The Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organisation (SASO) launched the SABER system for online certification on February 1st, 2018.
The SABER service connects suppliers and traders with legal representatives of approved conformity authorities to issue certificates of conformity for the products that will be sold in the Saudi Arabian market, whether they are imported or locally manufactured.
SABER is a system that registers and stores technical data/test reports verifying the safety aspect of items being shipped, as well as shipping documents such as Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices, and Bill of Lading.
The SABER system has been put into action from February 1st, 2018 with a trial period allowing the use of the system on a voluntary basis. If the trial is successful, the new system is becoming mandatory as of the July 1st, 2018.
The SABER system came in force from February 1st, 2018 with a trial period allowing the use of the system on a voluntary basis. After a successful trial, the new system became mandatory since July 1st, 2018.
The system represents a two-part process featuring Product Registration and Shipment CoC.
The SASO conformity program was replaced by the Saudi Product Safety Program (SALEEM). SALEEM is developed as an integral system for rules, systems, procedures, and criteria.
The current SASO Certificates of Conformity (CoC) are no longer accepted. Manufacturers, exporters, importers, and freight forwarders should start the process of registering their products within the SABER system on a mandatory basis starting from July 1st, 2018.
