The Secretaria de Economia in Mexico released announcements on October 23, 2018 and February 28, 2019 to update Annex 2.4.1 more commonly referred to as the “Annex of NOMs.” Starting June 3, 2019, Mexican customs officials will be referring to Annex 2.4.1 when inspecting incoming shipments to ensure that the proper Official Mexican Standard (NOM) is in place and the corresponding “fracción arancelaria” or tariff code has been considered during the NOM certification process and is included on the NOM certificate. NOM certificates without the fracción arancelaria will no longer be considered valid in the customs database.
