SDPPI will enforce the new labeling requirements for all devices approved on January 1, 2019 or later. All products certified in 2019 will need a photo of the Label, QR Code and (for certain devices) a Warning Sign uploaded to the SDPPI database. If these are not uploaded within 30 business days of the certificate being issued, SDPPI will issue up to two warning letters, asking for the label info to be uploaded within 14 business days from each letter. If the label info still is not uploaded, SDPPI will cancel the certificate and blacklist the local applicant company for 2 years.
SDPPI will also decrease the number of SDPPI accredited labs from 121 labs to about 60 or less labs. The reduction of accredited labs is due to suspicion of fake test reports. Products certified using test reports from the labs removed from the SDPPI accredited labs list will remain valid until certificate expiration. For renewals, the products will need test reports from a lab on the accredited labs list at the time of renewal.
